I could not resist the opportunity to go “Coastal with Caitlin,” a play on the usual “Creekside with Caitlin” series.

This coast was on the Pacific Ocean of Costa Rica on the Foster Winter 2024 Retreat.

When this opportunity arose, I was an immediate, embodied yes.

“I’m going to go meet those people on retreat.”

A total 10/10 YES.

Part of this process has been permitting myself to lean into places I want to be, communities I want to be in, etc.

That started with a journey of letting myself rest and be.

Did you see the movie The Truman Show with Jim Carrey? (Spoiler alerts ahead.)

On the beach, a couple of us talked about that movie and how he poked a hole at the edge of his world.

He realized he could get out of the world created for him.

There were parts of me that created a world I thought I would want forever.
My perfect life. Tenured professor, married homeowner with dogs, foster mom, the list goes on.

Four years ago, I let myself “poke the hole” and say out loud, “there’s something else I’m desiring.”

When was the last time you let yourself lean into a dream or a yearning you have?

My journey was going internal first, and then letting it all show up in the external world.

The external world is mirroring the dreams and desires I’ve had
(minus the beach - I’m still not a beach person).

And even with tragedies and heartbreak along the way - this trip reminded me that I’m okay. More than okay! I’m leaning into life and it’s beautiful.

Reminder - the February workshop for paid subscribers is on Thursday, February 22 from 10AM-11AM ET. Save the date! It’s your chance to get free coaching and ask questions.
