If you’ve been around the online business world, you’ve heard a lot of empty promises.
“Get rich fast and you don’t have to work at all to get there!”
Jenny Blake wrote about this idea recently in a post on her own Substack:
“I’m so sick of stories from the stage about having “two cents in my bank account, but now I’m an enlightened billionaire, here, let me show you the way.” Who are these serving?”
My body immediately resonated with that statement.
It’s also a concept that’s been on my mind lately.
We love this story as a society.
It’s the classic “rags to riches” story that draws us into cheering and celebrating.
But my nervous system cannot handle creating that situation.
Zan Tafakari asked me to expand on that statement, so I made the above video.

Shifting slightly - it has been a minute since I’ve been able to create any video content.
I find myself in silence at the creek instead of wanting to speak.
I’ve still been coaching my clients, giving talks, and writing grants.
But you may have noticed I switched the title of this newsletter from “Joyful Growth” to just “Growth with Caitlin.”
Because my growth has been all kinds of messy in the past two months. Not always joyful. Plenty of grief, heartbreak, and a full range of emotions.
My growth lately is like a wild, untamed garden and I’m up to my elbows in dirt.
I’m welcoming the messiness of it all.
I hope you aren’t judging any of your own life messiness and growth.
