Do you have a job transition on the horizon?
It’s one of the most common issues I coach 1:1 about.
I went through a major transition in 2020 when I purposefully left academia to work for myself.
I faced a lot of fear, uncertainty, trepidation, and excitement.
But it was easy to throw around a bunch of “emotion words” and not actually do anything about it.
Back then, I underestimated the power of feeling through my body and the power of breath.
It seemed too simple.
I thought I needed a 10-page plan and every question answered.
But all the mental overthinking and planning didn’t shift the feelings.
I needed to breathe and make space for acceptance of all those big feelings.
Simple in theory, but it took time and sticking with the practices each day.
I also had to remind myself that feeling a full range of emotions was normal!
Sometimes we forget that job transitions are a big deal.
So if you’re going through any kind of job transition right now,
even if you’re just thinking about it,
give yourself grace and space.
