It’s so easy for the ambitious, overachiever part within us to pipe up at this time of year and make plans for our future.
The enthusiasm is in the air!
And right now, you’ve probably got other parts being quiet in the corner.
Maybe they feel well-rested.
Or maybe they’re just drowned out by the enthusiastic one.
It’s like in a team meeting, when the most enthusiastic person talks the most.
They’re drawing on the whiteboard and encouraging everyone to chime in.
But there’s someone putting on a polite face and not saying a word.
Or better yet, they have their camera off.
Are you paying attention to that team member?
The same thing happens inside of us.
We forget to check in on the parts of us that have their camera off.
That aren’t all riled up right now, but still probably have something to say.
Maybe a part within you is scared about achieving your goal.
It’s way easier to talk to them now, while they’re still calm.
In February, when they’re having a meltdown is a little late.
So take the opportunity to check-in now and make a plan.
My process for helping parts integrate goals:
First, I make sure that I’m as well-rested and clear as I can be.
I like to go into a 20-minute meditation to regulate my nervous system.
I ask the “manager / achieving” parts to sit down for a few minutes.
Then I ask quiet parts to speak up, telling them that it’s safe.
It can be helpful to write down what comes up so I can see the difference between parts.
Then, I work on making sure all parts feel seen, heard, and validated from my inner Self.
What’s in your plan for 2024? I would love to hear in the comments.
