Recently a friend said, “I have to set some goals for 2024.”
I said, “You know, I didn’t have any goals for 2023.”
I “accomplished” plenty this year.
But as overachievers, it’s easy to think that achieving an outcome
MUST include:
Setting a SMART goal (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound)
Chipping away at it day after day, month after month
Rinse and repeat
Yes, that works.
And what if that’s not what you need headed into 2024?
My 2022 was full of unexpected loss.
I was in no place to go about the typical goal-setting process for 2023.
I was repulsed by goal-setting even!
And it was a good thing I leaned into that.
Here’s your permission slip to be burnt out on goal-setting this year.
Goal-setting is one tool this time of year.
There are plenty of other ways to live here at the beginning of 2024.
As I wrap up the year, I’m on a silent solo meditation retreat in my own space.
I hope you get lots of space to do what you want, how you want it as we all make the yearly transition!
